Portrait Photography Promotions & Offers

In continuation of my last post ‘Networking for Photographers’, this post is about how to get your photography business promoted by other companies. For this you will need to create some ‘Gift Vouchers’ which are personalised for the company promoting it. They will offer this ‘Gift Voucher’ to their customers as a thank you for the loyalty, custom, etc. This ‘Gift Voucher’ needs to be very well designed, printed & packaged so it really does look like an expensive gift.

Portrait Photography Gift Voucher

The gift vouchers are printed in bulk. The more you print at a time the cheaper it gets. We usually print any quantity between 2000-3,000 at a time. You do not print this on your ink-jet printer in your office, these are printed by traditional litho-printers in full-colour. Firstly printing on an ink-jet printer will be extremely expensive in consumables, will take a lot of time and you probably won’t be able to print edge-to-edge of the paper.

The first step in producing this is to hire a graphic designer. We as photographers may be able to take a few shots but we cannot produce designs which a graphic designer can create for you. So don’t think that just because you know how to use Photoshop or InDesign that one is also a creative graphic designer!! Unless you have a graphic design background. Your designer will produce the concept and then you go to the artwork stage. You then send the artwork to the printers and once you receive this then the personalisation starts.

Our ‘Portrait Gift Vouchers’ are A4 in size (210mm x 297mm). The reason for this is that when overprinting them with the company information and message, it is fairly easy to do this on a laser printer.

The above image is the inside of the voucher. Where you see the red arrows, that text is overprinted on a high-quality laser printer. You can personalise this message to whatever you want. This voucher is worth £195.00 when someone brings it to us. Michael di Meo’s customers are thrilled that they have received such a valuable gift.

You can print small quantities at a time around 100 or so and give the vouchers to the company. Once they consume these vouchers, you can then give them some more. All you need to do is build up a relationship with about 15 companies or so and you’ll see how many referrals /leads you get out of this.

Now you may ask that £195 is a lot of money to give away. True. We wanted to create something different and daring which others haven’t done. We’ve all seen the £25 voucher for a small print. To be noticed, you need to be daring and think outside the box. Plus our pricing and costings have been worked out so that we can afford to give such a generous amount.

Once the vouchers are ready, they are then folded, the ribbon is put on and then the whole voucher is inserted into a very expensive envelope. The whole package needs to be (and look) expensive otherwise this won’t work.

If you want to learn more about how to create the above promotion / voucher and much much more,  then you cannot afford to miss this:
